International Experience

I come from São Paulo, Brazil. Since I arrived in California my experiences had been great. I could network with students and professors from diverse areas to open doors for future opportunities. After three years here, I have been successful with my experiences and got the best out of them. Now I will use this to get even more. Before coming to University, all the education I've had was from Brazil, so moving here was a big step. Bringing experiences from another country with me was great because I could see how things are different, from handshakes to business etiquettes, and how I needed to adapt myself to this new environment. Overall it is a great experience to be away from home as it makes me more mature and confident for everything in life, for example, knowing how to communicate and interact with people that come from a different background than me. I have to handle problems and difficult situations in this new atmosphere on my own. All that brought me a lot of determination to move on with my life, as it showed that I am prepared to take big steps and face new challenges as they come my way.

Why California?

I chose to come to California for mainly two reasons. First, the big diversity there is here, I would make a lot of connections with people from all over the world, which made my experience even better because I learned how to deal with a variety of people from different cultures. Secondly, it would give me more opportunity to practice what I love, which is surfing, and eventually open doors for me to work on the industry or any other job related to the sports market. Also, the number of opportunities here are countless. They range from Hollywood to stock market, sports market to musicians, or anything that I desire to be. It is the land of opportunity.
